Nutrition

Nutrition plays such an important part in your pet’s health and wellbeing, starting from Puppy through to Adult Years and Senior Life Stage. Finding the right food for your dog can often be very difficult as there are so many brands all promoting their product as the best.

From personal experience, it is very easy to fall into the trap of thinking that a very well-known popular brand is the best food you can give your dog only to find out that the ingredients listed are totally unsuitable and the food you are giving your dog is nothing more than cereal, meat and animal derivatives and additives, This can lead to loose stools, poor skin and coat conditions, behaviour problems, obesity and other health issues.

Buying a cheaper brand also doesn’t necessarily mean that it is cheaper for your pocket. Cheap branded foods full of cereal means you have to feed more, but Natural Premium foods contain higher levels of meat and fully digestible ingredients which mean you feed less!

Because not one food brand suits all, we have made sure that we have a wide variety of some of the very best foods around ensuring that your dog or puppy has its nutritional needs fully met.

When it comes to Nutrition we are also proud to offer our Weight Management Service which is ideal if you have a New Puppy and are watching his/her growth or even if your pet needs to lose a little weight or gain a little weight! Our dedicated staff will monitor all of this for you and also help with feeding guidelines too.

We can provide a Personalised Weight Card whereby we record your Pets Weight, check the feeding guidelines and we will make sure that Puppy or Adult is receiving the correct nutritional requirements.

Socialisation

So what is socialisation? Simply put, this is the process where a dog learns to relate to people, other dogs and other animals based on direct experiences.

Dogs can be exuberant or shy; friendly or hostile; fearful or bold; aggressive or passive or some combination of the above. These differences in personality may to some extent be determined by breed, or individual genetics, but for the most part it is based on how and to what extent each particular dog has been socialized.

At about the age of three months, your puppy should be ready to leave the house to meet other dogs. Puppy school is highly recommended by veterinarians, dog trainers, and other experts because it will teach young dogs how to relate to others.

While puppy schools are meant to introduce dogs to other dogs in a positive environment, they also play an important role in the relationship between dogs and human beings and continuing the process with training classes and other activities as your puppy grows will not only give lots of fun but it will also benefit you and your dog.

This means you will have an animal companion who is a pleasure to be around. Most importantly, it is what is best for your dog, because a well-socialized dog is a happy dog, and that is what any dog owner should want most of all.

There are many behaviourist’s and dog trainers around using different techniques and practices. Choosing the right one for you and your dog is paramount. Well trained dogs are more likely to be well behaved, will listen, be void of behavioural issues. They will be good in public, and are less likely to bite. As an owner, you will have a much closer connection with your dog when the time is taken to form a relationship through training.
